Recognizing that parents are the primary religious educators of their
children, the Youth Ministry Office aims to support parents in these
efforts through special parent programs and home activities you can do
with your family.

Ninth grade reflection questions:
Applying moral values to the first three commandments:
#1. I am the Lord, your God, thou shall not have strange gods before me.
#2. Thou shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
#3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's Day.
These first three commandments concern the love of God. The next seven
commandments concern love of neighbor. So many times we, the People of
God, have a deep desire for a sense of the sacred, a connection to the
holiness that is God. Yet so much of popular culture seems to poke fun at
anything that is sacred or to belittle people who treasure God and holy
things.
How does your family value and follow these commandments? What does
your family currently do, or what can your family start to do, to deepen
your love for God following these commandments?
November 30, 2009: Topic - Advent and Commandment #5 Honor Your
Father and Mother:
This weekend was the First Sunday of Advent which also started a new
liturgical year in the Church - our "New Year". What are some New
Year's resolutions your family can adopt to help bring in the new church
year? Not just in preparation for Christmas, but for the entire year.
The Holy Family - Mary, Joseph and Jesus - are often referred to as
the "Perfect Family model". Of course, we don't live in a perfect world,
and our families and family life are very different and unique. How does
your family model the Holy Family? And (have fun with this part:), TV is
full of many different shows about families. What TV family would best
resemble your family?
